Racing Marina

Post by locost_bryan » Wed Nov 11, 2009 11:44 pm

I found out about this Marina that is racing in New Zealand, via the link here.

It has taken a while, but now I have been able to locate both the original builder, Glen Thompson, and the current driver Steve Moon. The car changed hands about 2003, and had subsequently had a 1750 OHC motor fitted, as well as being road registered. It disappeared from the track for a year or two, but is now back racing with an 1800 B-series engine.

One of the first cars to race on the new Hampton Downs track, south of Auckland. 8)

Just came across this pic from Aus. Third V8 Marina that I have found that raced in Australia during the '70s.

Bruce Watt Morris Marina V8 S/sedan (P76 4.4 V8) Sandown 1974. Wonder what ever happened to this car?

There is an off road rally marina on the ecosse site members gallery. Its quite an old photo. The car is a 71 ...........and I am getting it tomorrow. Ray said he had a go in it not long ago and it can motor.....It is limeflower new MOT..new trunions..just needs a clean and a couple of front wings and a rear wheel arch ( all supplied. ) It has a different manifold and carb and a stainless exhaust. Will get Ray to take pictures and upload them. 8) 8)

Hi Carle, I shouldn't even think about V8 Marina's, as I can't even get around to painting my P76 engine bay and putting the six back in..

Is this the car pictured on the OzMarinas Yahoo group, captioned "Neil Byers in the ex Noel Delforce V8 Marina Sports Sedan at Oran Park after a minor incident with John Birks V8 Capri"

... and in this pic from the OzMarina website?

Is that a Special Tuning wing above the rear window, and boot spoiler?
