Water ingress UPDATE

Post by mikmik » Fri Feb 26, 2010 8:22 am

God bless Captain Tolleys!

I put 2 or 3 applications of it around the windscreen seal. At one point between the wipers, it found a hole and disappeared down it like lightning. Its really thin, which is something you're probably not used to seeing, so it looks a bit strange when its flowing and it flows quick down inclines, so have your cloth ready to mop up whan it takes off across your paintwork.

No puddles on the driver's floor since, so the carpeting and underlay are going back in today.

Its worth a try if you have a leak I tell ya, and I'll be doing it again pre-emptively when I reapir the 1.8 special and replace the screen rubbers.

Thanks to the person who suggested it.

Mick

Sounds interesting, I have a wet passenger footwell, what do you do just pour it around the seal and see if it disappears? What do you do about the leak, just smear some sealer around it?

Doesn't seem it was through there at all josh, no.

The sealant comes in a little bottle with a nozzle, Philip. You just apply it sparingly around the screen seal, and leave it for about half an hour. then do it again.

Eventually the leak is gone.

Didn't you try pouring water into the air vent though and some came through?

Hey guys......I was the man that "discovered" Capt Tolley's when looking for something to repair my Humber leaking screen. Glad to hear it appears to be working.......& what a great named & designed product too !!!

Try the capt Tolleys cos I have a feeling that pouring water straight into the vent will flood it anyway.

But rain water does the same thing

I tried putting a plastic cover over the air intake and no water gets in.

More work for me....

I will probably get some anyway, as I desperately need a new rear screen rubber and cant afford a new one so it looks like this could be a temporary solution.
