Carbs and resto.
Hi, my marina is fitted with what I believe to be an ital carb. I want to either get a nos marina carb or just rebuild the one I have if bits are available. Which is a better carb? Ital or marina?
Also, I'm guessing a few members of the forum have entrusted their cars to restoration companies for restoration. I would be interested if anyone had any details of companies that do marinas. I keep toying with the idea of doing it myself like the rover p4 that I am just finishing putting back together after it came back from spraying or just paying someone else to do it. I want a proper job as it is my everyday car. Also, when me and her get married it is going to play a part on the day.

For carb parts have a look at http://www.burlen.co.uk/ who specialise in SU and Amal carburettors. Obviously carb parts are also available from eBay but Burlen will have all the necessary records as they took over all SU business and parts.
You could also try http://www.gowerlee.dircon.co.uk/
To help a B series breath easier, twin SU's are the way to go rather than a single carb.
MGB carbs are bolt on but the needles are a little different (not sure why as the engine is pretty much identical) but it is unlikely you will notice the difference as the needle was originally designed for 4star leaded fuel and we now use unleaded.
Answer to part 2, restoration, Please see above though I have no personal experience.

If you are coming on the road run on 20th June, you could have a chat with Joe & Jason Warren from Exeter. They did the work on David's blaze coupe, which you parked next to at Shepton Mallet!

Hi Dave, I've tried them and they said they won't do a marina. I may come for the meet though if I can get it going. It broke down at lunch time.

Philip, if you want a truly wonderful job doing on the restoration of your Marina then you need to entrust it to someone who treasures them. There is only one such person, on this side of the world at least, Uncle Frank. If you pop into Uncle Franks Workshop and have a look at Pauls Jubilee restoration and my Mumford restoration then you will see just how good he is. The photos don't really do these restorations justice but having seen mine in the flesh I could not believe that the job has come out so well. If what I sent him can come out this well then anything can be restored. Give Uncle Frank a ring and have a chat. I can assure you that you won't be dissappointed.
