what jobs have you had ?

Left School in 70, trained to be a teacher of Technology, spent 30 years teaching, now I get to play with a big train set as I'm the Education Manager at the National Railway Museum.

8) what a great job to have. i have always been into steam railways as my father used to work on the railways at motherwell (66b) and later polmadie (66a)goodness knows how many videos i have. a4 pacific my favourite loco. i can remember as a kid my dad bringing home sawn up sleepers for the fire. i can still smell the burning creosote. reminiscing again...........

I left school in 81 and got my first job in a supermarket. In 84 I joined Queensland Railways as an engine cleaner(never cleaned engines). I was promoted to fireman(locomotive assistant) in 89 and then on to driver in 95. Drove freight trains(Bribane based) until I transfered to QR City Train(Brisbane) late last year, to get away from so much night work. Electric passenger trains are much nicer to drive!!

I hate my job (administrator) but at least its means I can sit in front of the computer all day and sly on here occasionally

Most interesting job I have had was working for the Oxford National History Museum where I got to cataloge all the animal specimens they had! Opening boxes never knowing what would be in them! Although once we found a dead rat that was not part of the collection and had eaten part of the actual collection....

We could strike a deal though Frank where you can teach me bodywork and I will teach you about computers

Left School at 17 and worked as a Field Engineer for a local computer firm. Built up the service department and sales side of the business then decided to work in Education as a Senior Technician... Have worked in two schools and now I am a Systems Manager running two sites with a team of technicians. Don't think I will be doin it for much longer as Computers bore the hell out of me! Nothing beats working on old cars!

Next yer should be good for you, we are planning to have 4 A4s at the Museum for an event. They will be Mallard, Bittern, Union of South Africa and Sir Nigel Gresley.

Well left school in 89 and did a short stint in the army and then decided to get an apprenticeship in machine woodworking where i gained my advanced craft city and guilds , after which we were told they couldnt afford to give the apprentices pay rises so they laid us all off !!! Had a few jobs basically doing electronics which was boring, so jumped at the chance when a job came up at pompey ATS as a commercial fitter where i stayed for 2 years untill a position came up back on the island and i moved back !! Ive now been an assistant manager for ATS for over a year now and enjoy every minute of it !! I get to meet lots of people on my travels around the island which helps in getting bits for the marina's , very handy !!!

One of the most interesting jobs that I had in between jobs was working as a painter/sprayer for a shop display company.We used to do a lot of work in Harrods which in itself was interesting to see how the other half lived.At christmas the company I worked for built the Christmas grotto for Harrods,this display apparently cost Ã‚Â£250,000 was in place for 2 months then ripped apart and scrapped.The year I worked for them 1990 I had to spray santas sleigh and a matching bench for the kids to sit on whilst waiting to see santa.It turned out that the first official visitors to the grotto were the much missed Princess Di her eldest son William and the younger one,...you what's his name......James Hewitts son..... Harry that's it

I was so proud when it was shown on national tv Princess Di and the kids sitting on something that I had painted/sprayed
