back seat not original as they didn't have the centre arm rest, and yes that is a weird place to
have the booster it is usually near that spot but mounted horizontally. interesting colour
if its jet red its possibly pre-production if its dry red it production unless its a "kiwi thing" :D :D :D
it would be good to get the numbers from the ADR plate if possible to find out it production number

Rego details are :-
Engine no: 1340
Chassis: VH254811
Date of registration: 1972, August 23rd
Last inspection: 2002, January 8th (Fail)

Perhaps the failed inspection was to do with the brakes? Comparing the engine bay pic with a TC pic from a magazine, the booster should be sitting horizontal not vertical. Perhaps it has been disconnected?

Rear seat from an English TC or HL? Think they had a centre armrest.

Not sure if the car is it's original colour, but it could be an English BL colour. NZMC assembled all sorts of BL cars from both Aus and UK in the same factory. There is another local TC in the English "Blaze" orange.

thanks bryan
unless it a "NZ thing"
i would suggest that should read YH2S5 4811
mine is YH2S5 609, (car No 509) this means its an auto T.C YH2S4 **** is the manual
engine 1703/1102 (auto T.C)
unfortunately mine has had a pretty big crash if the front left corner that has taken
out some of its equipment and also the compliance ADR plate but from the
other numbers i would say early '72
the way they were stamped can make it hard to decipher the letters

I'd say it was written down wrong when the car was first registered, or entered wrong when the records were computerised  . Looks like a geniune TC, but the build plate isn't readable in any of the pics. The cars at the wrong end of the island for me to give it a look over, so I'll have to give the seller a ring and ask a few questions.

The front seats have been replaced with non-coupe seats (the seller doesn't know what from), so I'd have to source a pair od high back coupe seats from somewhere. :(

or it's a ringer......

My car is really a Mumford convertible, but they wrote it down as a 1.8 SDL Coupe when it was registered at Mumfords garage.

It could be a ringer, but searching the rego shows

Vehicle details
Make: MORRIS
Model: MARINA TC CO (presumably the form didn't have enough space for COUPE  )
Year: 1972
Main colour: Red
Vehicle type: Passenger Car/Van
Body style: Sports Car
No of seats: 5
CC rating: 1,750cc
Fuel type: Petrol

The details look right, and it is a red coupe with a 1750 TC motor (it's even got the right hubcaps  ), but I do wonder why the front seats have been replaced, and why the back seat appears to be non-original. However, the door cards look correct and undamaged. Nothing that should be impossible to put right. :)

Anyone know where I could find a set of Australian Marina coupe front seats? They had head restraints as standard. Here's a pic of a standard Aussie Marina TC interior. :)

I upload the photo to my (free!) account at www.photobucket.com, and use the [Img] button to include the link to the photo. Simple enough for a simple person like me.

This coupe has seats that don't slide forward for access to the back seat, must have been replaced with saloon seats.

iirc the Super Coupe I had years ago had non-reclining seats (like most cars in the early '70s. :(
