Earlpart spring bushes part number?

Post by JoshWard » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:04 pm

Hi all,
I will be needing new rubber bushes for my N/S/R leafspring and I was wondering what the part number for Earlpart is?
The list the following
Bush, main leaf spring bush, front & rear, Marina & Ital (in spring) SUR 189 £7.02
Bush, main leaf spring bush, fr & re, Marina & Ital, Special price for 2 SUR £25.61
Bush, shackle rear top, 2 per shackle, Marina (in chassic) poly SUR 190 £5.41

I'm guessing they are the same both front and back of the spring?

Thanks in advance,
Josh.

Earlpart spring bushes part number?

Late Ital spring bushes have an air slot in them so may be why they are quoting two prices. Also checkout Superflex as they also do spring bushes etc.

Do both sides, otherwise the car may squirm under load even if its both fronts, then both rears at a later date.

The front and back leaf spring bushes are the same, the hanger bush is a lot smaller.
You will have fun pressing them out as the steel sleeves corrode into the springs. Probably best to drill or cut away all the rubber and then cut the sleeve with a hacksaw using the gap in the curl of the spring to get at it. Do one at a time, the axle wont move around as much and aligning things will be easier. The hanger bush is easy(?)
I would tend to buy Superflex rather than Earlpart but if cost is an issue then buy what you can afford.

Earlpart spring bushes part number?

Post by ClaytonSpeed » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:27 pm

I have a set set ( I think!) of quinton hazel bushes that are rubber. They were listed as mk1 Capri many moons ago.

I'll dig out the part number and we can check it. If they are right you can buy them from me at a sensible price! When I change mine I will use superflex .

Earlpart spring bushes part number?

The hanger bush isn't too bad, just a load of skinned knuckles on the side of the petrol tank.

Hi all,
I won't be changing them myself as I won't be changing the spring hanger (no welder!).
I had a look at the Superflex kit and whilst I would love it there's no way I can afford that as well as the hanger, labour costs and then the MOT etc etc.

I will await Ben's response (quickly boy I need my car back  ) if he can dig out his spare set (if they exist that is  )

If I do need the bits from Earlpart which bits do I need then? What do they have them listed as and how many do I need of each? The Haynes manual doesn't make any of the bushes clear and nor do I have any idea about leaf springs.

Check the Superflex prices. I think you will find that they come in pairs. A phone call will confirm.

Hi Steve,
From Superflex front bushes are £44!
http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.p ... 34-0293KSS

Same for rear ones
http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.p ... 4-0293RKSS

Shackle ones are £14.25
http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.p ... 2211-24-4K

The Earlpart shackle ones are also polyurethane although I'm not sure whether they are sold as a pair for each shackle, or whether they are individual so you have to order four.

Ok,

The ones I have are:

1xEM1450

2xEM1451- equiv MRM230 - listed here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Capri-Corsai ... 0725110439

I can't find a QH parts book online anymore! Hopefully someone can help!

1xEM1452 - Possibly metric measurement so not that good..

If they can help let me know.

Ouch, I must have been feeling rich when I did mine. £94.25 for a full set.

Which I just can't afford, otherwise this repair will come to around £300 and I only have £80 left in the bank as it is...

I'm guessing Ben's bushes won't be much use as it doesn't sound like there are enough?

So am I right in saying I need to order the following
Bush, main leaf spring bush, fr & re, Marina & Ital, Special price for 2 SUR £25.61
Bush, shackle rear top, 2 per shackle, Marina (in chassic) poly SUR 190 £5.41

And I guess I DON'T need the following bush?
Bush, main leaf spring bush, front & rear, Marina & Ital (in spring) SUR 189 £7.02

Why don't you buy the two on eBay at the moment and my two MRM230's

The eBay ones are cheaper than EarlFart!

You can have my two for £10!

Sounds good to me. So which bit are these MRM230s? The bit that goes in the spring or the shackle bit which goes in the chassis?

Fantastic, that's what I need a nice simple explanation  Never seen any of these parts up close and nor are they listed properly in the Haynes manual.

I will get the shackle ones from Superflex as they clearly state how many you get!

How do you want paying for yours Ben?
