Stumbled across this
discussion about reduced rego for classic cars in NZ. Good news for anyone with a Marina first registered in 1972.
Less Than 40 Years
Passenger Car/Van
$287.87
Goods Van/Truck/Utility $333.51
Over 40 Years
Passenger Car/Van
$111.92
Goods Van/Truck/Utility $111.92
Once a vehicle is 40 years or older it is no longer subject to Continuous Vehicle Licensing (CVL) and the licensing and registration fees are reduced.
A vehicle turns 40 years old on the first of January regardless of the month it was registered. For example, a 1960 vehicle would turn 40 years old on the first of January 2000.
Our system recognises the year a vehicle turns 40 and automatically adjusts any details as necessary (i.e. the licence fees are automatically amended to reflect the new fees).
Kind Regards

Hi Bryan
Yep that's the way it works over here, its why I'm waiting a bit until I re rego my Coupe
I just bought a 1975 van too, so we still on for the aussie Marina's 40th?
I'll buy every 3 legged donkey on the lot, and try and save em all.

Yes, we must organise something for that.

My Avenger clicked over last year - lucky timing given that they have finally caught onto the A-reg trick. It's a real life saver... especially because if you like to walk on the wild side you normally only have to pay for 9 months anyway.
