Noisy differential

If the differential on an 1800 Marina is whining a little, does replacing the bearings using the kit on eBay solve the problem or is it likely to need replacement of the bevel gears in the diff?

An axle whine is likely to be the crownwheel and pinion wear, not the bearings alone. Its not a job for the amateur mechanic even with plenty of time on their hands.

The differential centre of this axle is a direct swap for the Marina one and all the internal parts of the axle are common to the Marina. There are several threads on the forum describing the process. The body of the axle is different.

Occasionally the diff centres only come up on on ebay if you are not in a rush.
