Quite right on all those points Paul but there is something about Dot 5 that does require it to be changed more frequently than Dot4. Can't put my finger on what it is at the moment but watch this space, it will come to meJubileeNut wrote:DOT 5 silicone fluid is not hydroscopic so never needs changing Gary!
Where DOT 4 absorbs water so needs changing.
DOT 5 OK with paint, DOT 4 removes it![]()
DOT 5 bloody expensive

Had a great day despite the weather. As always its good to catch up with everyone and put faces to names off the forum and, as Barry said, have a good Marina chat . Cool to finally meet Sean after three years chatting on the forums. Also Torryn + Miss Herbert! (Spotted you zooming along the A1 through the window of the "OK Diner"
)
Funny though, the rain followed us all the way along the A1, and then the A57 into Sheffield, but as soon as i got within a couple of miles of home it was dry! Walked through the door and the Missus says "Have you had a good day, its been lovely and sunny here i've been out in the garden all day"

had a great day yesterday, despite the persistent rain Jess and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to meat everyone that i'v been talking too on here and put a face to your names. I felt very welcome on the club stand
, it turns out that I went to the same school as Tony (screaminglordstokes), and my girlfriend is his geography teacher's daughter
small world. saw some lovely cars on the show field and thought that our club stand had a great looking bunch of cars to offer. great to see you all and I hope to make it to plenty more meats in the future

chears paul, it was nice to see your car in the flesh too, it looked lovelyAlso seeing TC Torryn's car for the first time, great wheels, sorry I did not get to chat but must ask you about the rear lamp seals
the rear light seals are lazer cut from 5mm neoprene sheet and are designed to sit between the original seal and the body, if you want some I'v been selling them for £2 each. I'v used them on my car and they cured the leeks, but that's the only example of them in use I have.

Was a good day, great club stand fella's!
Even the kids enjoyed it despite the rain, took them to the Nene Valley Railway after so had a day of my 3 hobbies, Marinas, Minis & Steam trains, doesn't get much better than that
On the 300 mile round trip from Gloucester I saw 4 classics presumably on their way too or coming back from Peterborough. A Triumph Dolly Sprint on the A14, MGB V8 hurtling along the M6 and 2 Moggies, both sat on the sides of the road with their bonnets up. I make that a 100% failure rate of the sample observed!!

Only saw three classics on my relatively short journey home.
Triumph 2000 on A1
Austin Cambridge on A1
JubileeNut's Citron beast on A1 at Black Cat roundabout as I turned off for Bedford. No sign of Paul peeing at that point.

Re: Peterborough - BMC / BL Rally & Spares Day
I passed all those as well Chris, I was keeping above 60MPH to dry the car off
Also saw a Dolomite being towed behind a AA truck so that makes 50% failure for the Triumph

If you have any or are getting some more done can you let me know, I think it would be good to fit them to mine if possible,

Could be worth doing an advert for all your neoprene seals in the club mag?
I bet there are folk who aren't on here who would appreciate them as genuine rear light seals are near impossible to find. Door handle seals and front sidelight/indicator ones are available from numerous places as of course they were used on other cars

Re: Peterborough - BMC / BL Rally & Spares Day
Hi guys, what an excellent weekend that was despite the weather. It was really good to catch up with some old faces and meet new ones too. Reynard covered 754 trouble free miles over the weekend. He did use a wee bit of oil (about 1/2 a litre) going down to the show but I'm putting that down to hard driving as I sat at 70mph most of the way there. I topped Reynard up on the Sunday morning just before the show and then I bought a gallon of oil just in case and fortunately I didn't need to use it.
After leaving Peterborough I made my way steadily over to Blackpool to visit some friends who own a guest house and ended up working in it for the day fitting a new shower cubicle. On Monday night I made my way back home, again keeping Reynard at a stead 55-60 on the motorway and again he never missed a beat.
I would just like to say a big thanks to everyone at the show, it was fab seeing so many Marinas in one go and everyone I managed to speak to were very friendly and made me feel very welcome. Apologies to anyone I didn't get the chance to speak to as the weather was rather nasty so I kept diving in to peoples cars for shelter lol.
Once again, brilliant weekend guys and I hope to see you all again next year. Hopefully I will have the pick up on the road by then
All the best,
Sean
