What did you do to your Marina today?

Well this post is a day behind but yesterday afternoon I decided to do some paint work on Reynard. The minute I started rubbing it down it decided to bloody rain so the pick up was pushed out of the garage and reynard moved in to the dry for the painting to continue. I got the front wings painted, both sills and wheel arches and touched up other areas. It's not the best job but it's a dam site better than what it was before!
Now for today lol. I gave Reynard a quick wash then at about 11.45 I started my journey to Peterborough. Reynard never missed a beat the whole way down and I passed the north east lads on the way down. Arrived at ferry meadows at 6pm after doing some shopping in Peterborough!
Will see the rest of the guys here tomorrow!

You missed the cuttings in my wheel arches, together with the mud from the exit gateway.

Well today I got up nice and early 11am approx lol and seeing as it was hot and sunny I decided to reward Reynard with a good wash and polish because he was so well behaved over the weekend and returned me home after a 742 mile round trip without a blip. The only thing that did let him down was his drivers seat. Its pretty worn and there is a wire thingy on the seat back that chaffed through my back leaving me with a big friction burn just above my bum which I didn't really notice until I had a shower in Blackpool on Sunday evening so a new set of front seats are to be sought once I have some disposable funds built back up again.
After a quick vacuum out to get rid of all the grass and 7 hours of washing and then G3-ing Reynard followed by a polishing he looked like this

He's looking much better now and I only wish that the weather was nice and I had more time on the run up to Peterborough to get him looking like this for the show but at least he did make it to the show this year and that's what really counts!

Sean, are you sure you didn't wander over to the wrong club stand at Peterborough? The symptoms might be the same

Like you said Tony, it's a dead cert that after the show the weather changes and that's when you can polish the car! I even got sun burnt today lolScreamingLordStokes wrote:![]()

Today was glorious and thanks to my employers I had to work but after work I decided to have a good look over the dented second hand tailgate which I bought at Peterborough. I am pretty confident that if I take my time I can pull most of the dents out by welding screws to the skin and pulling them out with my slide hammer. I will fill the other dents and hopefully dress the panel up to a satisfactory condition. If skins were available I would rather re-skin it as it would be much easier and quicker.

Gave the coupe a polish today:

First time i've touched the old thing in two and a half years. Its in need of serious TLC, but cleaning it up has provided a spark of inspiration to get it up and running again.

Stripped down the nearside Princess caliper as one of the 4 pistons has been sticking on the Coupe.
I identified the faulty piston and could see that the outer seal was damaged and the piston had a matching nick in it.
I had a piston seal kit ready to go, but no piston, so I've bought a stainless one off eBay which hopefully will come in the week. Also managed to damage the union on the S/S hose, so ordered another.
So assuming it all arrives in the week, I'll be able to convert my three legged Marina back to four wheels next Saturday in time for the MOT.
