morris marinas getting better viewings

Hey guys i dunno about you guys but the amount of people who wave at me in my marina when im driving is amazing, i got scared the other day coming back from chester at 12 at night a car pulling a banger racer car waves and the only thing that crossed my mind was "he wants my marina to banger race it" lol

but people used to diss the morris marina saying how bad they are or how unreliable they are. but truth be told since ive replaced a lot of parts mines been pretty reliable and always get great comments i even met a new guy with an 1.3 austin allergro and they look so a like lol

but i can't drive mine for the next few days im having the gearbox replaced the reverse gear finally went

Good on you littleburner using your marina. Other drivers always rubberneck when they see me as well. I suppose its the same for all of us. Remember and fit a new clutch when the box is out...Good luck.......Larry.

Likewise. I use my coupe every day, rain or shine. It amazes me how many "modern" cars i pass on the side of the road with there bonnets up. No ECU or electrical gremlins in my Marina.

People assume, if somethings new it therefore must be better. This is bollocks.
I don't want an air-bag going off in my face suffocating me or filling my lungs with poison.
Ile take that risk. Eitherway, i dont drive like a cock flat out everywhere like people do nowadays in their flash 59 plate clios.. relying on assumption that everything will just work when they need it too.
I have a more relaxed approach to driving. Ile get there when i get there. I'm going too
slow? well tough shite, you should have left earlier then and not be rushing.

Here Here, well said that man. The number of idiots that drive like lunatics in their flash BMW's, and the like, never ceases to amaze me. Give me a 70's vehicle every time. I was travelling up the M1 one day, going to Derby in the Marina, when I notice a guy in a BMW tearing up the outside lane. He slows down at the side of me, looks and laughs then tears off again. 20 miles further on who's sat in a layby, bonnet up and on the phone. No prizes for guessing what I did.

It just shows you no matter what car you have if it is not maintained as it should be then it will break down.

At least I own my car which most newer cars owned seemed to be on credit

haha love the replies last one made me lol :P but i have a friend doing my gearbox as i don't have the space yet. but i preffer having someone who knows what there doing working on my marina than someone with a laptop in his hand :P

I nearly choked to death from the black smoke pouring from a 54 plate Merc yesterday afternoon on my walk home. I thought Norwich was covered in smog!!

I am beginning to find more and more modern cars with the same issues, I guess with the recession etc most have been skimping on servicing, little do they realise it could save big bills in the long run...

I would be happy to build a few gearboxes but time is very short, spend most of my time watching CBBCs and going walking / stomping in woods with my 4 year old - he loves being out side.
I have 1 new one to build and about 3 old ones in bits.
Also got an axle to rebuild or recon.

Remember I did my own gearbox which is the first one I had every touched, and I know what went in to it and got the result I wanted They are not hard to do but take your time and think about each step.

Time is very valuable.

This weekends jobs are refurbishing my front door seals to make them plump again and fitting a CTEX comfort lead and extension so I can keep the battery tip top over winter while car is covered over

I think it is good that the marina is getting a better deal on price. Gavin's TC coupe should have gone higher. Mine will only get a good price if I set it on fire then the insurance will pay out. Not planing on doing that so don't worry.

It could be that the clutch issue was causing your problems, lets hope so as that should be easier to fix.
