Wha are you looking to make them from, vacuum formed ABS or fibreglass? If fibreglass then the people that did my instrument pods in Bedford may be able to help.

Dont mind Chris but mine isn't a true Marina One (i missed one on ebay but it sold for more than i could afford, think it sold for abot £150.00 this one cost me a fiver and some time to make it fit,)
if i could get an original i'd deffo look to get them remanufactured i reckon they look awesome

Mgbv8 wrote:Eamonn, what make / model was it made for originally, then?.
Not Sure fella i think it might have been from a early fiesta a mate bought a job lot of period car accessories and it happened to be in the box so bought it and made it fir, felt could loose a lot if it didn't work, keeping it on the window is the hardest part no fixing kit so double sided tape and dont drive too quickly lol usually just put it on when it get to the show..

will be waiting ;) let us know when you've got it sorted, i'm sure you'd sell a few over here and we could do a group buy to maybe save on shipping

Thinking about another forum topic, didn't Fruity find that the Mk3 Escort rear window rubber fitted on his Coupe? So it could come from the same model of car?

Martec wrote:Its probably been asked before, but is the engine bay longer to accomodate the 6 cylinder and by how much?

Were special panels made or did the inner, outer wings and bonnet have extensions added?
Leyland's Australian engineers did a very commendable job of shoe-horning the E6 into the standard engine bay, with just the valance and crossmember changed to make room for the larger radiator and electric fan. They also enlarged the transmission tunnel and raised the steering rack 30mm to make room for the Borg Warner 3-speed manual gearbox, beefed up the front uprights and brakes, and changed the location of the rear shocks. And they replaced the light tinplate (plastic?) Morris grill with a unique heavy fabricated Leyland "jailbar" grill.

The E6 only weighs 20kg more than the E4 :) . The Borg Warner gearbox also weighs an extra 20kgs, but that goes in the middle of the car, so should help the weight balance. 8)
  • E4: 151 + 21 = 172kg
    E6: 175 + 41 = 216kg
    MGB: 178 + 35 = 213kg
This thread says 468lbs/213kg for an MGB B-series, including the MGB non-overdrive 4-speed. This thread suggests 65lbs/30kg or 78lbs/35kg for the MGB gearbox (113lbs/51kg including O/D  ), which would leave 178-183kg for the B-series. So a slight weight advantage to the E6, although the CoG would be a little further forward.
