Thought for a show

Post by The General » Sun Oct 21, 2007 11:22 pm

How could we go about organising a show for all marina clubs ( and owners )who may not be in clubs to get together for a one off show in the cowley area. also who would we need to see to approve such a show ? So who would be up for it ?

Ace Idea. I think we may have to plan it in a way that can incorporate all sides of the UK. i.e. Maybe organising a road run from the different branches/areas. Get meeting points across the countries then come down en convoy!

Cowley is hardly there anymore, there is not many places we could pull up at! How about getting in touch with BMW?! We could ask to use the car park for a photo shoot? Then drive over to the Oxford/Cowley works bus museum? They will have space for a few cars and have a fantastic archive from the factory. Also the Ital cut away estate.

I'll give a hand mate, if we can do it in a structured way by getting PC involved and any press that could be interested we could have a good turn out. I think with the right planning it could prove very good!

eloues wrote:WOW!! Thats a tall order. First as Sam says contact the venue. Next every single free newspaper (££) with a huge add to run for a few weeks. Contact all the car clubs big and small. Get sponsership  pettrol co's, DVLA etc radio stations, Ebay, you will need all the advertising you can get.
Do remember that those cars that are sat unloved, do so bacaus the owners dont care or are waiting for a winfall etc.

"If you biuld it they will come"
I don't think you have to go that over the top Paul! Keep it simple. Set out the plan and tell people what to do i.e. meet at certain points at set times. It's not rocket science. All you need is a couple of co-ordinators to oversee it all. Keep in touch with the branch leader by mobile and make sure everyone is ok. As for advertising, you don't have to go as far as paying for an awful lot. With the classic car press they would be happy just to get the "scoop" from the event. Infact it wouldn't cost anything apart from the usual MSA membership/liability insurance all classic car clubs have. Oh and entry to the muesum. Really you need to pre-book cars in advance so you know numbers. Writing to branch secs will help there, then follow it up with a call. K.I.S. = Keep It Simple
