Entirely my own fault.
I am laying on my bed, trying to sip wine through the corner of my mouth.
I have hurt my back rather severely, and it is likely I will be here for several days.
You may hear more from me...
Yesterday I fitted front seatbelts to my most recently acquired Marina, and replaced the left front wheel bearings. Also fitted Mk3 wheel trims. Photo currently unavailable because I can't move.
That was all good.
Today I set about curing a wheel alignment issue on the Volvo.
Perhaps it was cumulative damage - perhaps it was those 17" alloys - but having been determined to finish what I started saw me continue way too long after the pain began - to the point where I had to crawl back to the shed to stow the tools.
It then took me 30 minutes to actually get onto my bed. I am now well acquainted with pain.!
Hence the wine.
Well - it makes a good excuse...
I always wonder why I do not listen to my body and act sooner.
Maybe I am selectively deaf.
Although it has got me out of a dinner with Sue's family...
Dear people but boring.
Ho-hum.
Getting to the toilet will be interesting.
I have previously managed by laying over a computer chair and propelling myself on my knees.
Sounds a hoot, but it is hardly enjoyable.
So I trust your day ends better than mine.
But the wine is ok...
And the laptop perches quite well.
Cheers.

Entirely my own fault.
Sorry to hear about that, assuming its good NZ wine you can at least console yourself that you are helping the national economy.

Re: Entirely my own fault.
Kilroy i can sympathize with the familiarity with pain bit.
take care not to aggravate it more, alcohol will help but i have to face
that an aging body as young as mine is, is a bugger
2 lots of arthritis with tendonitis, fatigue and anemia is catching up.
anyway get well ASAP and back on the Marinas

know what you mean kilroy . have been out bend over a engine or in the boot fixing those bloody rear lights issues
now relaxing with a guiness after my wife have served a nice dinner with a bottle of white wine. Its finally summer here in norway with 25Celsius . So another guiness and i wouldn't care about my back pain

An old injury, Kilroy, or just old age? Fortunately my body has lasted half a century reasonably intact...

Thinking of you over here, all the best, Frank.
Re: Entirely my own fault.
Hey all.
Thanks for the well wishes.
Apart from 4 days of pain, being totally immobile is very scary.
Today for the first time I am crawling about the house with the aid of a computer chair.
Brilliant.!
I am rather tall, and for many years I repaired heavy household appliances - moving them about myself.
Did I say I lived in a hillside port town.?
I guess that did the initial damage, but of recent years, lifting the occasional borg-warner 65 in and out of a Marina boot has caused me some grief.
Basically - working for long periods while bending forward is the killer, and when it finally goes - you just crawl away...
Recovery is simply a matter of time, but the painkillers are never strong enough.
Someone asked if I had a complete mk2 dashboard.
Yes I do - but it aint gonna fit in an A4 envelope..
A guy phoned me while on the 'slab'. Found me through this forum.
Needed a gearbox, but I suggested that as they all need checking out anyway - we might as well fix his original.
I agreed to help him when I am able - but I shan't be the one pulling it out...
Cheers you lot - nice bunch you are..

Hi Kilroy
Yeah I may well have steered the gearbox fella in your direction
He's got a mk1 wagon, I'm kind of jelous.
Get him to throw on a couple of pics.
I've got a mk2 dash too, but I bet yours will be more complete for Darrens mate.
Hope your better soon.
