My Family's Marinas
Hi All - in the seventies my family bought 6 Marinas. There were 4 TC saloons, one of them a jubilee model. The last new one was a 1700. That did 99,000 miles - it suffered because I passed my test during its tenure in 1981. The white 1300 was one my parents bought for me to use. They were traded in more or less sequentially at Butlers of Maltby. Dad went on to own a Maestro and 3 Montegos.

Re: My Family's Marinas
Hi & thanks for commenting, that car was HWB 262 N - seem to recall Dad said it was the nippiest of the lot. My lasting memory of it is Dad gun barrelling it down dusty spanish roads one summer. It was I believe a colour called lagoon metallic. I used to love the colours BL did - that lovely bronze and that deep metallic red. I'll ask if they have any more shots of the cars but I suspect not. cheers, Jonathan

Can I ask how well it works as an everyday classic? Does it require much by way of maintenance?

Re: My Family's Marinas
to be fair it gets very little use...there are folks on here who use their cars much more than I do, it's probably done 300 miles or so since I bought it in February this year(it's got a genuine 39000 miles from new on the clock) and in that time it's had a new exhaust, radiator and thermostat, rear brakes, fuel tank sender, handbrake cable and a fuel pump, all of which were available mostly new old stock but at a price....everyday things like plugs and filters are available from ebay etc, personally I prefer the 1300 A series opposed to the 1700 O series parts for the O series are not as popular as the A series given it's popularity still today in the classic mini..i'm still considering an engine/running gear swap into mine from the O to the A series it's just a case of finding a totally rotten beyond repair 1300 marina or ital to use as a donor and they don't come up too often and if they do you've got the minor converters to fight off for them...
that'll ding dang do for me !!
