front wings

Post by andy clee » Wed Nov 20, 2013 12:31 pm

hi im thinking of buying some fiberglass wings from www.honeybournemouldings.co.uk
i think the steel ones are far far too expensive. steel £245 each. fiberglass £66 each.
what do you think ?

Normally I'm not a fan in that it'll not do your residual values any favours.
However, having said that, at least on a Marina you've got the opportunity to pop them off every year and clean out any crap that had accrued on the inner structure so the car should in theory remain rust free for much longer.

I've had dealings with honeybourne in the past. Great service and very helpful.

I have plastic wings on my Ital; you will need to reinforce the top edge with a strip of steel to replace what you will lose by removing the wing; I used angle iron from B&Q which just happened to be exactly the right size to reinforce the top edge and create a drip rail...

I'm afraid I've sold them now. They were Honeybourne ones and seemed like a decent quality product.

Yep, I've got them and sure enough they do look good quality, I haven't tried fitting them yet, but they can't be any worse than pattern steel wings, can they?
Cheers Josh
