Good progress on Sunday for checking out some squeaky brakes, new fuel filter, new led switches and a few other bits and bobs

Me and the family went to Pembrey Country Park bank holiday Monday, lovely beautiful sunny day, took loads of photos of TDT (too many to put on here) so I chose the best 3. My son got embarrassed as I was listening to eighties music, got sunburned  , but had a good time all round.

The red estate had a few issues up front, and it was time to do something about it.
Front shocks were failing, and there was some play somewhere in the steering which was evident in the right wheel.

Removed shocks and replaced them with a spare set.
Found play in the right end of the steering rack where the rack attaches to the tie rod.
Seems the ball and socket arrangement had run dry and was now able to move in and out against the anti-rattle spring enough for the wheel to deviate from straight.
Of course - the car tended to follow suit.!
It was most noticeable under heavy braking when it felt as if the brake disc was buckled.

As the fitted steering rack had already received a nolathane bush in the past, I grabbed another rack with a shot bush, and made the best one up from the pair..

Tomorrow I shall refit it and see what happens.

Went to collect the Mumford from storage, battery flat! Turned over with a lithium battery booster but still not keen to start. Plenty of spark but no petrol. No easy start to hand but then a moment of inspiration. Silicone based bumper shine on the shelf, highly flammable, let's give it a go I thought, couple of squirts and it started. Then discovered clutch jammed. Freed off by starting in gear, off to the mot station where it passed! No surprise really as I've only done 14 miles in a year, shame on me,but when the new interiors in I may go out in public.

We decided to start working on our LHD TC coupe this weekend. Jobs to do: clutch (piece of mind), cylinder head (it has a dropped valve), hydraulics, suspension and a dam good clean up. What did you do on your Marina / Ital today? Be different, buy a Morris Marina and save a British Classic .

Just got back from a couple of hours graft on the MK3. It's not been started for at least 3 months -connected battery (hasnt been charged since just disconnected) and started up no issues. Let it warm through and all was good - thought there was a leak on the cooling but nope just my imagination I guess. Going back down at the weekend to give it a damn good polish and clean. Then i'm booking it in with the local garage to finsih it off - free clutch and MOT

Bah.. that's nothing. That's surface rust compared to most Marina projects! Make a list of what needs doing and check them off one at a time.
You'll get there

I did this!

Met Ivor and his good lady, had a cuppa, talked cars, mostly marinas! Went out in my car and then in Ivor's gorgeous TC! Which confirms what I though, that mine is tired mechanically, and needs the prop, front suspension and the noisy cam sorting ASAP.
