You feel you have been ganging up on someone?

I am unsure what other thread you are referring to, however the lovely data protection act that unfortunately I have had to go to several seminars about at work, has realms and realms of sub clauses covering the posting of private information - which includes email address - into the public domain without consent from the individual.

As for putting people off, I find that somewhat hypocritical after some of the more abusive posts that I have had to remove from here in the past. Personally I would be more put off reading pages of abuse against other members of the forum - regardless of what they own - than a few odd posts asking people don't post for postings sake.

As for posting requesting help on whatever matter, I do not feel that there are any issues relating to that as there are the other sub forums aside from the general banter where help is readily available. These forums, having somewhat of a more structured approach than the general chaos of the banter forum are in my opinion very helpful and an ideal place to exchange and obtain useful information.

Highly indignant Sam

Hmm, data protection, what a lovley word to hide behind on a Wednesday morning. I think you are missing Pauls point entirely Sam. I would read his post again and also read over your Ital post as you have edited it to suit your own credibility. It must be good to be in a position to manipulate postings to make one look good, not very clever I think. This is a forum about cars and their owners so why go to these extents?

p.s I would be careful about editing peoples post – data protection etc

Well I am sorry about the Ital thing, that was in no way intended to make people look stupid and I am afraid I (and a co-worker who i have just ambushed) can't really see how that makes people look stupid. I needed parts for a car that has finished being filmed and the owners now wish to do it up as they love it and possibly come to the national - I now have most of the parts and just need a light... Please tell me what I am missing?

And you can all edit your own posts so that comment, Sean, is somewhat uncalled for I feel.

Thats fair enough Sam but we can only edit out own posts. I cant edit your post or anyone elses posts on here. That was one of my points. I think we should just draw a line under the whole thing and move on from this thread to save it getting out of hand.

All the best,

But I only edited my post on the Ital thread... and other posts I have edited have been the email - which most people have now anyways - and abusive posts which I will always inform people of.

What was that saying about not being able to please anyone ever?

My av makes me laugh and people are always saying I should lighten up and just have fun on the forum so I took their advice.

Also I never said how the car was damaged for all you know it may have been in an accident when they had finished the filming and driving it back and someone ran a red light and smashed into the side of them.

I think after the Top Gear fiasco earlier in the year many BL fans are nervous that it could be open season again to trash some old BL vehicles.

 Oh dear, poor old Sam!!, come on guys lighten up it`s Christmas! :D , to be fair Sam was probably right to pull Terrys` E-mail address from my posting, especially in the light of Martins reply to him, i only put it up in the hope some of you would give him a bit of "reasoned" stick to point out the error of his ways, not to call him a paedophile!, anyway it would seem that Paul has smoothed that one out now and Martin has since apologised, so hopefully things will be ok 8) , we all tend to do things in the heat of the moment, and on reflection, we should think a little more about what we say in haste.
At the end of the day i think he will now take a bit more care before he sends stupid E-mails to car clubs!

WOW. Here we go again but i have to agree with all the comments made here about the ital and also the editing and pulling posts in general. If people want to write something just let them right it and if their is any consequences that individual can deal with them. So i think it's time to get off the high horse and just let things run. In all the time the forum has been on the go i have never seen so much fighting, this never used to happen until the last 6 months or so, but it's not our forum so what do we know. That's only my opinoin whether anybody likes it or not and if i offend anyone, well that's life, we all offend people at some stage.

The problem with defamatory details and/or personal data is that the owner of the website is responsible for it's content even when someone else posts it.

The moderators job is to moderate (tame down) the content to avoid the website or indeed anyone else getting prosecuted etc.
