Steering Rack Bushes

Post by MarinaCoupe » Thu Apr 30, 2009 11:11 am

I have got quotes for manufacture of the steering rack bushes in the UK and the cheapest is coming out at around £32 wholesale - mainly because they have to make a die for the shape. I have managed to secure a supply of the Nolathane bushes via the US as it worked out cheaper than buying through the UK distributor (also around £30) - the price will be £21 each. They will be coming surface shipping to keep costs down and will be in the UK August/September. I need to know how many to order as I have to pay the full cost up front now.

Those that want can I ask you send me an email with numbers you require, payment to be made by PayPal to the same email address.

Thanks,

Hi Chris, I didnt even notice this thread on here. I would like to order a couple of the bushes, one for the one on the car already incase that starts to deteriorate and one for the other rack so I have a functioning spare steering rack. I have your email address in my list from when you sent me an email regarding a rack on ebay. What do you need to know in the email?

The steering rack bushes are on their way, so with a following wind, I should have them for Peterborough 2nd August. Orders please so that I know how many to bring. Managed to keep to the £21 price.

Martec (Brian) will you want me to post them to you, or are you coming to P'boro?
James1300 will you still want two and will you be at P'boro?

Hi Chris, might well be interested in a set. How many did you get made? Just wondering as if you are getting any more made, I am in the States quite often and can get stuff delivered to an address and then pick it up when I'm coming back. Usually saves a fair bit on shipping costs.

Hi Chris, yes I think two will be fine thanks, one for a spare and the other to fit in the old rack. I would like to attend Peterborough but its just a case of me getting there as my Marina passed its MOT yesterday and I still need to get insured and change the taxation class to exempt. I would be a little nervous about the journey incase i broke down as its a long way for the car to go and anything could give up but hopefully not, I would also feel better following someone else like a marina convoy if that were possible, bearing in mind i only passed my test last year. I will keep you posted on this anyway and if i cant make it I will send you my details. Cheers.

The bush is for the left hand end of the rack on a RHD car. The original bush is the one that can cause an MOT fail if too worn. Also the one that gives a knocking/clonking noise from the left side. They fit all models i.e. Mk1/2/3 & Ital.

I will have 10 now with some more to come.

James1300 - Richard Clayton is coming over from Leamington Spa in his Ital, so you could travel in convoy if you are worried - I can give you his number if you want? I'll bring 2 for you (assuming they arrive).

Number 63 - shipping not expensive, but thanks for the offer.

Lee - see above - all models

It depends if I get it taxed and insured before saturday as my dad is going to america and if he lets me drive it there. If I succeed I will email Richard as I have his email address as I would like to go to the show. If i cant make it shall i make a cheque out and send it to you chris?

Yes that'll be OK, although I have yet to find out the postage costs, which shouldn't be a lot, can you hold fire until I get postage costs sorted?

Will the bush fit hte RH side of the rack on a LHD car? In that case I need one for each of my Marinas.
