And there were kits to fit Vanguard interiors and chassis etc for a pick-up, van and estate, but these are like rockin' 'orse poo and now very pricey....
The classic car movement needs Jeremy Clarkson like Jenson Button needs a towhitch and a Sprite Musketeer....

Airfix made a plastic model kit of a Marina saloon (a TC I think) in the early 70s but these are ultra rare. I'd like to know what happened to the moulds though. They also produced a kit of the Maxi - again very hard to find. Might be worth contacting Hornby (who now own Airfix) and asking if the moulds still exist. The MK1 Escort kit is still being produced so there is a slight possibility that they are stuck on some dusty shelf somewhere.

Corgi also did a coupe in blaze very early in the 70's. I believe it was originally only available through BL dealerships. It had black interior and silver steering wheel, whilst the red and yellow ones had white interior and black steering wheel.
I was lucky enough to find one at a toy collector's fair several years ago, but they are pretty rare!

They are so rare I didnt bother mentioning them

The problem with the kits is of course it's hard to get all the detail right yourself and in the case of the vanguards ones, you have to buy a base model first!

You have been blessed - these were actually produced by Corgi for BL to give away at the launch of the Marina in April 1971 - very very rare indeed, and I have only ever seen 2 poor ones on ebay.
The white metal vans are 1/45 so a bit small besides the diecast saloons & coupes.I am lucky enough to have the very fine Airfix model to go with my 1:1 white TC saloon, as used by the police way back when!
I believe Bijou went out of business some years back

 Don`t know if any of you guys spotted this but there was a Marina TC Airfix Kit on Ebay last week which went for the "buy it now" price of £125 within a day of being put up for sale!, just noticed tonight that the same seller has another one for sale, and guess what...the buy it now price on this one is now £145!...could be interesting to see what it goes for, think i might have one or two of those in the cupboard myself

These are my Marina models- the Vanguards ones are both boxed. The Corgi one is going to get a respray soon - funny how Corgi issued this in two colours not used on the real cars!
I wonder if replacement "glass" is available for the Corgi Coupe?

(Raises hand....) I've got one...... Luckily the dealer didn't realise just HOW rare these are and it was a good price.....

Al, You can get glass for the coupe from here:
http://www.model-supplies.co.uk/
The Marina is number 306.
When I was younger I collected toy cars because I wasnt allowed a real one and have a fair number of playworn Corgis (couldnt afford any decent ones!)
