New Marina has landed!

Post by mikmik » Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:16 pm

I've added another Marina to the stable - stuthegasman sold me his red saloon, and she arrived here at 11.30 am

Whereupon I went for a three-hour drive!!

:D

Its not quite THAT red - thats a combination of being wet and poor colour correction on my phone.

Pretty as heck though.

Very much so gary - except that to punish Stu, MJp decided to stop her washer bottle motor working, and of course, I got caught behind a truck with no mudwings on a dirty wet irish country road.

Other than that, it was a joy.

Plus she gets admirers that don't know what she is, and are pleasantly surprised when they learn she's a MArina.

Yes, I've had that... two young guys came up and said "Cool Escort mate!" to the GT. "Er, its a Marina...." "Oh.... still a cool motor!" :D

I had a 1.3 Mk2 in that colour and ran it on slots. Wish I hadn't sold it now..... :(

Just read the Ebay ad again and Im gosmacked by the first paragraph...
I FOUND THIS CAR LAST YEAR IN DRY STORAGE WHERE UNBELIEVEBLY IT HAD STOOD UNTOUCHED SINCE AUGUST 1978 (YES THAT'S RIGHT AUGUST 1978 STILL HAD IT'S LAST TAX DISC IN THE WINDOW) SO THIS MEANS THE CAR NEVER HAS HAD IT'S FIRST MOT AT 3 YRS OLD, THE GENTLEMAN WHO OWNED IT PRIOR TO ME GAVE UP DRIVING AND USING THE CAR WHEN IT WAS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BUT TRUE
This must be the only Marina that has such a sheltered start to life, had to wait around 30 years for its first MOT! Fantastic find, looking forward to seeing it one day :!:

Oh I have to find that!! I changed over the tax disc holder today and didn't see it.

Stu has a penchant for Union Jacks.

Not always the best idea in rural Ireland!! I've already had a couplof comments about the UJ centre caps!
