been busy painting parts2

Post by MARINAMADBAZ » Sun Feb 07, 2010 8:48 pm

Hi had a go at some rear anti roll bar links, wondered if this idea i had would work??
Image
old bushes and casing taken out, cleaned and painted.
Image
some poly bushes fitted with using the old sleeve from the original bushes
Image
bushes are tight fit when the old bushes sleeve was used
but wondered if i should have some big washers over the sleeve so to clamp it all together and maybe slightly shorten the sleeve lengths.
Berst regards
Barry

Interesting idea Barry good thinking. Two questions

1. Do the top hat bushes meet in the middle so that the full length of the tube is supported?

2. How will you stop the bushes from sliding sideways along the central tube as the axle moves when cornering? Because the metalastic original rubber bushes were bonded to the metal it wasn't a problem.

I think that the original centre tubes stuck out so that they allowed for some flex side to side, but not so much that the slop about, so a penny washer on the inside would help.

By the way what is the overall length of the centre tube and what is the bore?

Hi chris the poly bushes meet in the middle, looking for washers now to go over the tube and compress the whole lot together, will then fit them and give them a go,the centre tube is from the old bushes, just cleaned of its rubber bush and re-used.
haven't measured the tube,but i'll measure it.
Best regards
