SDX 1.3 1975 year trim.

Post by Philip » Sat Apr 10, 2010 11:31 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me what my car should have trim wise, ie should it have a centre console, rev counter etc? I think I have read it should have wheel arch chrome trims but I have seen pics of them when they were new with and without them. Currently it doesn't have them.

Hi Philip,

Your 1.3 SDL should have stainless steel/chrome wheel arch trims. It was the deluxe models that did not have them fitted. Fairly difficult to find now, but you could use self adhesive chrome trim, which is widely available. (I bought some in LIDL supermarket, they occasionally stock it!) Also on ebay. Your SDL should have stainless steel/chrome on the top of the doors, below the side windows

No centre console or rev counter I'm afraid! Rev counters on 1.8 models, centre consoles only in TC models, I think!

Hope this helps, Dave B.

Just one other thing...
DL's had rubber flooring and SDL's had carpets and extra chrome around the front and rear windscreens.
Padded door trim tops/cappings as opposed to painted I seem to recall.

Most 1975 cars had silver plastic inserted into the channels around the front and rear screens along with plastic gutter trims.1971-early 75 cars had stainless steel inserts in the front and rear screens as well as stainless gutter trims.Front and rear screen window rubbers are different from standard Mk2-Mk3 if they accomodate stainless trim but the same if they have silver plastic strip.!975 was the year of the Mk1 and a half!
