Finnish Marina meet in Yyteri, sat 14th August!

Post by Fille » Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:43 am

The first ever Finnish Morris Marina meet will be held tomorrow, saturday August 14th at the camping site in Yyteri. At least me and BLLand80 (from here) are coming.
Originally I had planned to take both my Marinas (my uncle would drive one of the cars ;)) but I haven't had any time to pick the green one up from the lock-up so I'll take the TC. Which, I presume, is the only TC on the road in Finland...? Let's see tomorrow if another one shows up...

I'll post up some pics on Sunday (if I get back).

Marinas only! Let's see if we get more than two or three cars! Although I suppose anyone is welcome.

Oh, problems in paradise! My TC is still minus its exhaust and the man in the garage hasn't even started working on it yet! :(

My thoughts as well. Couldn't be many Marinas in Finland ?

They sold very well here in the seventies but of course there are not many left. 5 for sale on nettiauto: http://www.nettiauto.com/morris/marina/
Of those I guess only two are fit for the road. I know of at least one more Marina for sale, a 1978 Special Saloon with only something like 30,000 kms. It is rumoured it will be in Yyteri tomorrow. For sale at a whopping 6250 €!

And my TC is now fit for fight with a NOS exhaust fitted. Too bad most of the sound disappeared...

Well, well, eight Marinas showed up and we had quite a nice mix of models and colours. Two TC's, one automatic, two saloons, six coupés, one Special and so on... and one trailer.

The pale green Special saloon is a one-owner from new example with just 28,000 kms on the clock. A true time-warp car, the headrests were still in the boot in their original plastic packing and I wouldn't be surprised if the air in the spare tyre is British!

Some nice cars there
Like the trailer, I guess the boot opens as well as the front section? Is the front section lid a modified marina bonnet?
Has it still got the tank in it? Probably not easy to remove the floor to use more space where the tank would be.

Very nicely converted.

Thanks for posting.
