Not sure what you mean by..
it won't disengage when i put it in park
Do you mean its still in reverse.?
Sounds as if the linkage between your selector and the auto is out of adjustment.
You can reach it from under the car without removing anything (except bits of skin..).
If you release the transmission end of the rod that connects between the two - its held by a spring clip - you will find that the short lever on the side of the auto has six distinct positions - each corresponds to the six distinct positions the selector has.
Put both selector and auto into the same position - doesn't matter which, but maybe 'park' is the most obvious - then adjust the length of the rod so it drops easily into the short lever.
The rod has locknuts that fix it at whatever position you decide - you may find they are loose to have caused the problem.
You may find too, that the problem is either at the selector, or the lever on the auto - hopefully it will be self evident once you get under and have a good look.
One other thing.
The linkage I have described relies on the fact that your auto is in fact mounted exactly where it should be. If your engine or gearbox mounts have failed, that might also cause the problem.
There.
Something to do on the weekend.
Cheers.
