Biggest battery?

Post by JoshWard » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:22 pm

Hi all,
What's the biggest battery which can be fitted to the Marina without modifying the battery tray? Mine is clearly on the way out (due to lack of use) and died twice tonight and would ideally like to get something a bit beefier as the Marina standard battery is a bit on the small side.

If your car stands for a long time, the worst thing you can do is to leave it slowly discharging. Get yourself a trickle charger Halfrauds Cat code: 188946-0 works well for me and keeps the battery topped up.
It has quite a long lead, that could be extended, so provided you have power within a reasonable distance, could be left plugged in indoors.
On my kit car I fitted a cigarette lighter socket and use that as an input, I had to modify the cable end by fitting a lighter plug, but I think its better than the clip it to the battery terminals.
Better that I am reminded of its connection as the cable drapes over my steering wheel, than driving off with the terminals still connected, hidden under a closed bonnet.

Thanks for the tip, although hopefully now it won't be standing any longer :)

Sadly my dad couldn't get an 015 battery from work so I've got another 038 but it started first time on the fresh battery and I went for another drive. Tomorrow is petrol day and then the weekend is for driving :D
