Tubular manifold for a modified engine
Hi All,
I'm appealing for a source of MS pipe with pulled bends to make up a tubular exhaust manifold for my Zetec headed 1.8 Marina.
A SS exhaust maker I used last week for another car said he couldn't pull the bends sharpe enough for a manifold!
I've looked on ebay for manifolds I can modify but nothing looks suitable.
I'm looking to have long primarys of 1.5" bore (will match exhaust ports and manifold plate)
1.75" secondaries and 2" final pipe (to match the exhaust I've already made).
Even if its not ideal it can't be worse than the cast log manifold fitted now.
As a project I'm looking for the cheapest option, can anyone suggest a car with a tubular manifold of that size I can modify, or a supply of 1.5" pulled bends for the primarys?

Hi 105speed do a manifold for an anglia with a zetec try them.

Thanks for the help, using ebay as a research tool I noted that the Mk3 mondeo (duratec engine) has a short tubular manifold. A visit yesterday to a local scrap yard gave me a manifold with 1.5" Dia. nice tight bends for less than ebay.
I'll be going to another yard that saves almost new exhausts for more pipe.
BTW I took the exhaust from a Duratec engine on the floor and had a good look, if you like alloy engines then this looks very nice, but nodoubt a little expensive at present (I've got an £85 2ltr zetec in the garage).

Will the Duratec manifold fit the Zetec head, or do you plan to weld on a Zetec mounting face?
I found this on Ebay for less than £12.00, a mild steel plate laser cut to match the head.

Thanks for that Chris, I have a tubular manifold from a black top zetec from the scrappy, so I have the back plate but the tubes are too small to use. I also have a manifold from another ford that can be made to mount to the zetec to mount a turbo, it was cheap so I bought it, but not fond of turbos.
I fancy a supercharger but the economy would be out the window and David Hampshire bought a small blower, it cost £1700 new!!!!!!
I've got nearly all for the primaries now, so I'll be seeing my friends in the scrappies soon for more bits.
Another geared starter for the Marina, if I can find it one to fit the Jaguar and some more crankshaft pickups for the Jaguar and Marina.
I wish it was warmer!

Brian, you need to hang round the skip of a well known, world wide engine developer near me, they chucked 2 BMW mini super chargers. When a development project comes to an end they get rid of what was not needed! :shock:
They did not go to waste as at least one ended up on Ebay

Hi son,
I've seen perfect cars in the scrappy, when asked why they are there its usually cost. Someone tells them it is worth nothing so is scrapped, fortunately one yard I use they try to return a lot to the road, my stepdaughter has on of them, it required a 30p relay to sort it.
