EEL 398L Was not supplied by PMG, but by Westover Motors also in Bournmouth hence the EEL suffix, supplied in march 1973 new to Mrs A.E.Gallup.
The S.T. fittings consisted of Dunlop Alloy wheels, twin HS2 s.u's & primitive telescopic front dampers. According to the part number on the s.u. float chambers they were as fitted to the austin 1300 's', as are the 's' badges on the bonnet & boot lid if the J.Fray part numbers are anything to go by. As regards the car itself it was a glacier white 1.3 s.d.l. with midnight blue stripes, bootlid & grille inserts. The exhaust headers were bespoke one offs in stainless!!, not janspeed items.
When beautifully tuned I managed 68 B.H.P. at the back wheels on my local rolling road, coupled with 16 M.P.G.!! (who says t.c.'s aren't economical then!) .
It handled as predictably vile as any typical marina, and was outperformed by 1300 mk 2 vauxhall astras , but never mind it certainly got you noticed!
Anyone wanting pics of the beast are welcome to email me & I'll send you some & Others in my extensive fleet of ADO 28 derivatives.
