Fishing

Post by dandaz » Fri Oct 19, 2007 7:35 pm

Hi

I decided to do my leaky slave clutch cylinder tonight ,so I put a bar on the clutch pedal and wedged something on the gearbox lever......Unfortually that something has now fallen into the bell housing...

I thought a magnet on a piece of string [fishing].... :?:

or a bit more drastic cut a hole in the bell housing :?:

Any ideas not involving taking the box off welcomed.... :D

also taking the micky is also tolerated , cos I know I am a idiot...

well you could use the magnetic (string or the proper tool from halfords etc) It's worth a try consider the alternatives...
i wouldn't had my hopes up to high tho....

My dad has one of those magnetic pointer things that is also a screwdriver (but a really crap one) but I dropped a screw down into the guts of my car and the look of delight on his face as he got to use the pointer thing and fish it out.... bless...

anyways how big/heavy is this thing you have dropped? I have discovered that magnets are rubbish for fishing if its over a certain weight size as it tends to slip down so all the weight is at one end and then fall off.... not that I am so clumsy I have had to do it a few times

Cutting the bellhousing will weaken it and it ain't soft metal! Try a larger magnet! Do you use the car everyday? If not splitting the box wouldn't take too long with help of some mates!
