TYRE SIZE SUGGESTIONS

Post by vermillion » Fri May 11, 2012 9:56 pm

Hi, does anyone have any suggestions as to what size tyres I should put on my nice new shiny rims? The original tc wheels are 5.5j fitted with 175/70 13 tyres whick look ok for size in the wheel arch. The new ones are 7j. When I got them they came with 185/60 13 tyres. Unfortunately these look rather silly in the arches so I was thinking along the lines of 185/70 13. Any thoughts or suggestions for alternatives?

I ran 185/70 13 on my 6J x 13 minilites. You could go up to 195 or 205 x 13s and come down to 65 ratio to keep the speedo fairly accurate.

Thank Chris I will try the 195/65 13's and see what it looks like but the main objective is to have them looking right in the arches

I use 205x60's on my 7" rims.

They are Triumph Spitfire wheels which I had widened to 7". Got them off Trademe.
The centre caps are also Spitfire, and the wheel nut covers are the same as previously fitted to the Mk3 Marina.

The superlite alloy on the sandglow saloon behind it has the same size tyre fitted.
However - there can be quite a lot of size difference in the same size tyres from different manufacturers.

Seems they all have different size tape measures...

Spitfire rims on this car today...

Very nice Kilroy :D
I might end up making a set myself, but I got offered a set of Tr7 alloys the other day, and I wonder what the offset will be like?
I really want a set of slot mags for my new Tc, the Ozzy one has a ford size Stud pattern so it was easy to get a set of turbo vecs for it.
