What do you do on New Years Day?????

Post by vermillion » Tue Jan 01, 2013 7:32 pm

........Get the classic out of the garage and going to a show ;) I am not a great lover of Christmas so to everyone that was asking if I was looking forward to it my answer has been no just looking forward to new years day and praying for some nice weather. :rolls: . Mutterings from some about "not a cat in hells chance". Oh yeah of little faith!!!! What a beautiful day and warm to. 11am I set off for a local show which I go to every year and only 5 miles down the road. This show started off a few years ago with a little gathering of about 15 - 20 cars. It now entertains about 200, except for this year. Some bright spark decided to let everyone know that it had been cancelled. Good job some never got to hear about it and a few more took no notice. Here are a few pics:-

In the end I think about 80 cars turned up, but, as everyone was parked on the road outside the pub or 200 yds up the road at the village hall instead of on the village green where the cars are usually parked, it wasn't a bad turnout. Lets hope the weather stays nice for all of this years shows

Gary.

That's an impressive (and varied) turn out! We took over our village high street for the day- a traction engine and roller, a couple of lorries ('58 Unipower Forester and a '41 Diamond T 980), a couple of tractors, one towing a stationary engine, and a butcher's bike from somewhere between 1910 and 1930- we aren't exactly sure, it was rescued from a charity shop!

A thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the sun 8-)

Looks like you had a great day. The weather up here in central Scotland was lovely too with clear blue skys and the temp was comfortable too. Im like you and can't be arsed with Christmas or new year if im honest lol. I started the day off with good intentions of fixing the wifes car. Unfortunately yhe brake shoes I got were the wrong type so all I managed to get done was make up a brake pipe and fit a wheel cylinder. Hopefully the motor factors will be open tomorrow so I can get the correct shoes lol
