Re request to view the cut down Marina you told me about at the show.
I went on Saturday, but was to late to see it.
The guy cut it up....... 10 years ago.
It was a 1976 model, new, with just the 'A' & 'B' posts, on one side, doors, boot & bonnet missing.
He say's he owned two scrap yards & had dozens of marina's in & intended
to re-build it, But two divorces & 600 grand later the yards have gone, He's just got the
"Equestrian centre" now.
The Marina got full of water & when the floor rusted through ,he stripped the engine,
gear box, propshaft,& fnt suspension & cut the rest up.
The Engine's been sold on long ago, but says he's got the other bits & maybe the axle &
doors too.
I didn't get to see them, the shed was across a muddy field, i needed boots.
I did get the guided tour of his other vehicles though in various sheds & containers.
Its like a time warp.
A 1930's Austin 10, a post war MG sports. a Daimler Conquest, Rolls silver ghost. Healey 3000 he's rebuilding. a 64 mini [ bit worse for wear]. an 1100. swb landy. austin/morris 1 tonner, & 1 for "Terry Tibbs" a Bedford Green Goddess in really good nick.
Another shed full of bikes, mainly BSA, he said.
An AA Bike combo, 'Got the uniform to go with that he said & a full size AA box.
There were others, but i said i'd left the miss'es in the car & would have to go.
We went through another gate into a yard & i'm looking at a GTO.......
...... Only a 1993 Ferrari GTO......
"It cracks up 1st time " says he " I'll let that go for a grand ,its a shame its not getting used.
Mr Tibbs & Dave R take note.
I've got his 'E'mail & phone details if anyones intrested.
Well i didn't see the marina, but had a really enteraining 3/4 hour anyway.
