My 1977 25K 1.8 Special Automatic Saloon

Post by retrocool73 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 4:17 pm

Had this 5 years, all spent in dry storage, MOT'd her last week on her 30th birthday
Bought through eBay in 2002, it's only done 25K from new, the interior is mint, the exterior is tidy. Had thought I needed an exhaust, but it was only blowing due to the clamp to the manifold being badly fitted - a new nut and some exhaust paste fixed it
Bodywise, there bits that need sorting to make it 'right' - rot in the bootwells, rust in the bootlid lower edge & rot just starting at the very top of the rear panel, slight holes at the back of the wing top flanges, odd bubble here & there but nothing serious - and it would need a decent paint job to finish her off. Trim-wise, the wheel arch trim is all missing as are the wheel discs, and the front driving/fog lights could do with replacing due to corrosion

Does anybody know the correct name for the colour of this car? Ta, Sean

P.s. Is that an early version of Uncle Frank with the fishing rod?

I'm pretty sure my Grandad's Ital was this colour in the 80's

Is your car a lighter shade than the brochure one then retro? something tells me my grandads car could have been a bit lighter than this one. Having to think back 20 years is not easy lol

No, it's the same colour, the photo's aren't that great, taken by an old phone.
Applejack will be that snot/lime solid colour that seemed to on quite a lot of early Metro's.
Ideally I would like it looking as much like the brochure photo as possible
