Heater control lever knob

How do the small heater control knobs come off
I thought they were just a tight fit but it ain't coming off any time soon
Iv pulled really hard on it and nothing
Any idea's?

I don't know which car you have, but the mk1 heater knobs clip on. If you look underneath you will see a square hole, a little bit of the heater lever arm moves down into this hole, use a thin bladed screwdriver and push up at the end of the square nearest the dash whilst pulling on THE knob.

I've just removed one of mine, but the other one is tight.
