Yep that's right :(

Slightly worrying that it has been missing for over a month and none of us or the Club had any idea about it, don't the police contact clubs when cars go missing? Also noticed it has no crime number so perhaps it hasn't been reported?

The Police don't contact the club and neither do Insurers.

Thieving banger racing scum no doubt (Notice that they are all old cars) as they are there favourites.
I should know as I have had 26 cars stolen over the years from these monsters, and the Police aren't really interested.
The scum are obcessed with getting rid of old cars and will cause much misery whenever they can. It is obviously a disease that they have.
Why don't the Government ban there activity, as you think of all the classic cars that have been stolen over the years.

There is a ban already, it's called the Theft Act, prison, fines etc.

Banning banger racing is difficult as logically it would be extended to classic saloon racing and classic rallying, rallycross etc.

That's the car that Barry built up in Scotland, its in the restoration section somewhere. He did sell it a couple of years ago though.

This was my old car. I had it for about six years and rebuilt it twice. I really didn't want to sell it but I was in the situation of having too many projects and need an injection of cash to get the other cars moving forward.I sold it to a guy form Darwen in Lancashire in September 2012 but i had heard it had been sold on the a guy further south. I really hope it gets recovered as I put my heart and sole into that car. I know it was now to everyone's taste but I loved it. There was a lot of unique modifications done to the car so it should be identifiable if it reappears as a banger or with a new identity. It may well have been stripped as it had a a load of good bits on it, so I will be watching ebay to see if anything familiar pops up. The photo that they have used was taken by me in my driveway. I hope there is a happy ending to this story.

Fingers crossed then. Just a thought, is anyone going to RetroRides at SantaPod, it's just the sort of place you might find a modded Marina Estate or parts thereof.

I put the photo up, did a Google search for grey Marina estate (I knew what car it was from the colour!) and that photo came up.

Don't suppose anyone has got any contact details for the guy who owned this when it was stolen? I'm pretty certain it's just appeared for sale on retro rides. Don't think the seller is anything to do with the theft. I've asked him to email me some photos which will hopefully confirm that it is this car, I'll obviously then contact crimestoppers if it is.

Matt

It certainly sounds like Barry's old car given the spec listed. The lack of log book etc seems to confirm it. One can only assume the seller is not aware of it being stolen. But you never know, stranger things and all that..........
I'm sure you'll keep us updated.

BTW the rear quarter is nearly wrapped. Family illness has halted progress. I caught a bug off my twelve year old son!

From the description on Retro rides this is definitely my old car. The spec matches exactly as I built it. I'm glad it never got cut up or banger raced but it is a shame that it has ended up stripped. I would be tempted to get it back if there was some way of getting it back on the road legally. Technically this will still be the property of the insurance company unless it has been recovered in the past and been through the insurance process, then sold off by them as a cat B write off (hence no I.D. and no V5).
