Yaxham Vintage Day

Post by First-Car as Marina » Fri Jun 26, 2015 11:36 pm

Hi everyone.

Just wondered who was going to this on Sunday. After it was made aware to me last week at Swanton Morley I should be there. Let's see if what Paul did stops the oil coming out of the engine as I haven't had a real good run of it to see if it's fixed.

I will of course be there. Think it might just be me, you, Paul, Ian and Martin but four Marinas is still a pretty good turnout for a small village show! By the way the closest build date I can find for your car is November 1976 so sadly probably won't be tax exempt next year but should be the year after :)

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it as my slave cylinder has had it. Noticed it was hard getting out of 1st and into 2nd/neutral today (had to yank it out and it kept grinding) and it was because all the fluid had gone. Did try to put fluid in and bleed it out but after a few pumps of the clutch, once it was bled, all the fluid had gone. I noticed it had been leaking for a while so just kept putting the fluid in but its now finished. I now need a whole new unit as I replaced the seals before but I think the bore isn't any good.

Thanks for finding that out for me. Shame it isn't next year but the year after isn't too bad.

Forgot to add, if you speak to the organiser (a P Rutherford; not sure of his first name), could you apologise for me please if I don't manage to speak to him before hand (tried phoning earlier but no answer and don't have an e-mail address). I phoned him a few days ago and he made special arrangements for me as I was a late entry so am very sorry that I can't make it and have mucked him around.

Thanks,

Alex

Sorry Alex, I didn't see your message before I went. Hope you can get your clutch slave cylinder sorted out soon. Might be worth asking Martin as he had a few which Paul had fitted some new seals into a while ago. There were a few cars that turned up without booking so I wouldn't worry too much, Peter who organises it used to have an Ital so he's a decent guy

Some of Martin's pics of our lineup. Bagged myself a piston ring compressor so hopefully will be able to stick a new set of rings in CVF soon to sort out the oil consumption!
