Stiff Rear Doors

Post by Morris McKinnon » Sun Mar 05, 2017 5:26 pm

I've tried everything from WD40 to a blow torch but still the rear doors on PTH... well, all three of my Marinas feel as if the doors will pull the hinges off the pillars when trying to open them! I have spare hinges here but are a hassle to change. Anyone else have this problem?

What does the Haynes manual say for lubricating them? I thought it was grease, which iirc WD40 will dissolve?

They've been stiff since before I owned them but seem a bit worse these last few weeks. I know they need grease! I have used it but doesn't do anything as the hinges seem so tight so I tried WD40. I think I'll have to take them apart and clean them up.

Try painting some Diesel on them and let soak in repeat a few times then try and work them with some oil a lubrication

All sorted now, still a bit stiff but should free up with use. Used nearly two cans of WD40! Loads of grease on them now but I'll have to keep touching in some grease for the next week or so cos the WD40 turns it to mush.
