well sadly I feel it is too much of a coincidence that 2 bidders on the same car come from the same town especially in the light of the threat that he was going to get other people to win the car on his behalf I would save yourself the trouble of contacting ebay as I have done so already and I doubt they will be of any help anyway. I have now blocked you from bidding as well i'm sorry if you are genuine but I can't take the risk as for finding your way on here from the car ad I never mentioned anything about this forum the mmoc yes and club ecosse yes so maybe you just happened to stumble across this forum as your friend morrisand theminor did yet another coincidence

let me know if you find him as it would be worth the ferry fare to see his face like I said I apologise but I can't take anyone on face value now this has happened I hope you can see it from my point of view also I think you will find I never mentioned you personally just as a third party(i.e another bidder from Antrim) so by you coming on here and joining in the posting now everyone on here knows who you are whereas before you were annonymous.

I appreciate what you say and apologise for any missunderstandings but you have to look at the whole picture and at the threats that have been made to have someone from the same town want to buy the car.......... surely you can see where I am coming from, I have sent you a detailed pm to explain and hopefully some good can come from this mess

i have just read all the posts on this thread and i can see both sides point of view on this topic. I'm just glad it looks to have sorted itself out and the car will not be broken up. That car was the very first marina i drove over 5 years ago and i had the chance to get it back before it was sold to stu but i just have to many on the go at the moment. The car itself is solid and drives very well, far to good to break so as i said i am glad it has been sorted out.

Marina Past, I am sorry you are annoyed that issues of trust regarding your intentions of a marina have arrised, however I hope you can understand that with so many more Minors on the road than Marinas (I am afraid I cannot find up to date numbers but I will conservately guess 15,000 which is over 23 times as many Minors as Marinas!! And I know that figure is way off as I am just basing it on the number of Minor club members!!!) we get a little protective of our cars.
I would say statistically 50% of owners being members is average for a club so 30,000 minors, meaning it only takes 1 in 12 people to want a Marina and manage to get their hands on them then our cars are history.
For every car that is taken and stripped out by a Minor owner or any other club (or written off etc) that statistic will fall, and with car numbers falling from over 1 million to under 700 in less than 30 years (meaning we lost effectively how many Minors are about now every year for 30 years!) we can't afford such steep trajectory for the upcoming 30 years!
So it's not personal, merely statistical.

Hi all
Thanks for clarifying a few points I didnt realise that you had been getting innappropriate grief from a Moggie person so I have obviously seen things a bit out of context and thanks for clearing that up.
Something that I was not aware of was the offer where practical and obviously if available that you prepared to assist with possible upgrade parts (sounds good to me) to stop unthoughful Moggie owners from purely breaking the cars for the relevant bits and then scrapping the rest, if you like I can put up a posting saying that help may be available dependant on whats available of course and also if the do find a Marina that they only want certain parts from but the rest is a sound car to see if someone on your board can come to a swap agreement or similar to enable the car to be saved.
As for taking a few days before putting up my first posting that was down to being rather busy with other things (like yourselves I expect).
I will get a line drawn under the restoration show issue as you have come up with the answer, that is was down to the marshalling people on the day and I have to say that does happen and have experienced it myself.
Also sorry for being a bit negative about the type of response that I was half expecting (previous experience elsewhere) and thnaks for the positive responses.
I will also mention that somebody has been on your board causing some grief.
I will wait until I see a response before I post anything else.
Cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for taking the time to get back to us on our board. Working alongside each other is much easier and makes much more sense than working against. Everybody on this board (well 99.9%) is subscribed here for the same reason which is to promote and save the cars we enjoy, just like your board.
The idea of your members acquiring a Marina and before breaking it getting in contact with us via our board sounds good to me and if an alternative deal can be arranged then we get the opportunity to save a car and your guys get the parts required to put in your cars.
Lets hope that this nasty person doesn’t show face again on our board or your Morris Minor board because people like that aren’t car enthusiasts. I’m sure we can put this experience behind us now and hope that as a result this is the start of better things to come; working alongside each other can only be a good thing for all clubs involved.
All the best, Sean

Cheers Stu, the more friends/ contacts you can make in the classic car movement the more chances you have of unearthing more cars. The beauty of the internet is people are subscribed from all over the country (and world) so in effect you have at least one person in every county in the UK looking out for cars which can be rescued

Hi all
so that everyone can see what I have posted to calm things down and get everyone back to a nice friendly level here are the links to what I have posted.
http://www.mmoc.org.uk/index.php?name=P ... sc&start=0
http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.ph ... 661#174661
I also have to say that I personally have nothing against the Marina indeed in the past I have owned four a 1300 Saloon, an 1800 Saloon, an 1800 Estate and a 1700 Saloon.
I currently run a modified Traveller that does have Marina discs fitted many years ago by a previous owner but my engine was borrowed from an MG Midget so I have to tread carefully between 3 owners clubs
Also on a recent ebay item which I am sure you are aware of
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0177016908
I contacted the seller to see what were the chances of parts from the car and he said he was only interested in selling it complete (which is good) and was open to an offer, so I dont know how low an offer he would take, but just thought I would mention it.
Cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin, glad to see everythings calmed down a bit and everyone is now talking sense, thanks for taking the trouble to reply to the site and setting up the links, i hope we can now enter a new phase of Marina /Minor relationships that will be beneficial to all concerned
, and speaking on behalf of the Marina Owners Club i can honestly say that anyone who contacts this forum with a genuine query, will be given any help we can, and i`m sure the Marina Ecosse boys will help too, wherever possible, thanks again for taking a reasoned and sensible approach over this matter.

Hi Kevin,
I am glad there has been a sensible solution to this topic. I would like to reemphasise Frank's comments above.
When I was at the NEC show yesterday I heard word that the Morris Minor Owners Club was about to reproduce Marina discs?
