Both of us are coming from a similar direction with lighter weight cars. But TBH if this can keep another 1.8 roadworthy, so much the better.
Not a Marina owner, built in 1985 from a 1974 1.8TC MOT failure.

I like your's and Chris's idea of a five speed, but I am trying to do it for half the price, and a little less work. Trouble is my mind flits from one way to the other.

i did a TR 7 5 speed (LT77) matched up to a 1850 Dolimite engine in a MK1
but i think it would go close to bolting up to the OHC 1750.
only trouble i had was the cross section of the LT77 was oval and i had to cut the floor
to get it in
